Lately I've been noticing a lime-size bulge in the right side of my stomach directly above my c-section scar. It kinda hurt in an annoying but not ibuprofen-worthy way... After some delay in hopes that it would just go away (it didn't...), I finally went to my PCP. When I told him that I thought I had a hernia he said that he usually doesn't see those in women my age - it's mostly an old man thing. After examining me for about 2 minutes he agreed that I do indeed have an incisional hernia. I learned that during my emergency c-section some of the layers of muscle did not reconnect properly. So I need to have another surgery to correct it.
After consulting a surgeon today I learned that the surgery is a one-hour procedure. I'll need to stay in the hospital for 1 to 2 days afterward. During my 1 to 2 week recovery I won't be able to lift our 12 pound twins. After I recover I'll be able to lift them one at a time and go on light walks. After 6 weeks I will most likely be back to normal. I haven't scheduled the surgery yet, but at this point we're hoping that either next week or the last week in March will work.
Crap, crap, crap. Hopefully this is the last of the health issues and medical crises for awhile...
