While we did have an ultrasound today and the babies are looking great, we didn't receive any printed pictures.
We had another biophysical profile to measure fetal breathing movements, fetal tone, fetal heart rate, and amniotic fluid volume. The babies both scored an 8 out of a possible 8 again - which means that they're still doing very well.
Our little girl is currently 4 pounds 2 ounces, and our little boy is now 3 pounds 11 ounces. They are both very active and Steve reports that he can now *REALLY* feel them. Of course, I can *REALLY* feel them too. Can't wait to meet them!
I'm still working four hours a day from home which is working out well. I have time to rest and do small projects like sewing curtains for the sunroom (playroom) and nursery and making slipcovers for the couch pillows in the sunroom. I am feeling good these days. My gestational diabetes is managed. I'm taking NPH insulin once a day in the mornings which is helping to even out my blood sugar.
Steve's job hunt is going well. He's had several interviews and lots of interest from various companies. I'm still hoping he won't find anything until next year... I really love having him home with me. :)

Week 28 (and a half) :: Meet the Parents...
Since we don't have any ultrasound pictures to show this week, we thought we'd show the babies from the outside. When I tell people that I have 8 to 10 more weeks to go they're often surprised - I'd be full-term size if I were carrying just one baby. It's hard to believe that I'm going to continue to get bigger during the next few weeks! :)

Steve's belly hasn't grown as much as mine, but we thought it only fair to include a picture of him also...

We also received the digital negatives from our wedding photographer recently. One of the many projects we're trying to finish before the twins come is to put together the wedding album. This picture was taken a year and a half ago. How things change! :)

Week 27 (and a half) :: Biophysical profile
The babies had a biophysical profile done this week to measure fetal breathing movements, fetal tone, fetal heart rate, and amniotic fluid volume. They scored an 8 out of a possible 8 - which means that they're both doing very well. In fact, they are doing so well, that I won't have another ultrasound for two weeks! :)
We're only a few days shy of the 28-week milestone. While we hope the babies will wait another 8 to 10 weeks, if they were born now they would have a 90% chance of being completely healthy - which makes it easier to relax and get excited about their arrival!
Steve and I are still working on getting ready for the babies - this week's major task was washing all of the babies' new and used clothing, blankets, etc. - 8 huge loads of laundry in all! Many thanks to Kate & Adam and Ginger & Rob for all the little boy hand-me-downs and to Mom for the new clothes for our little girl! Our babies will be very well-dressed during the first 6 months!
Steve continues to job hunt. He had a couple interviews this week that went well. In the meantime, I couldn't be happier to have him with me here at home...

Peas in a pod...
Had another ultrasound today, and it looks like we'll have weekly pictures from here on out - one of the few perks of having a high-risk pregnancy! The babies are both healthy and getting stronger every day. :)
The babies are both breech (heads up, legs down) right now - their two little heads are nestled together like peas in a pod (picture below).

Our little girl is sucking her thumb! She's now 2 pounds, 9 ounces - 94th percentile for weight!

Our little boy looks like Steve, I think! He's currently 2 pounds, 6 ounces and 90th percentile for weight!

Week 26 :: Getting ready...
Now that we're past the 24 week milestone, Steve and I are actively working on getting ready for our baby girl and boy!
We had a great time shopping at the Mothers of Twins consignment sale in Winchester last weekend. My Mom came up from Connecticut to help us shop and we found some great deals on items like a diaper pail, wipe warmer, infant scale, toys, books, etc. What fun!
The nursery is coming along. We cleaned out the closet and put in closet organizers. We spent an entire afternoon sorting and organizing the clothes and supplies that we have in the closet. I'm amazed at the number of outfits and just how cute they are! Many thanks to both my Mom and Kate for all of the clothes! Both of our children will be very well-dressed!
We also created a registry (link on right side of page -->), ordered the nursery furniture and rugs for the nursery and sunroom which we're planning to convert into a baby-proof playroom. We'll post pictures after we've finished the transformation. :)
I started on insulin this week and it seems to be helping to keep my blood sugar more consistent. I'm on the lowest dose - a small injection once a day in the mornings. Still just glad it's manageable!
Steve was laid off from his job this week and is job-hunting full time now. He received a generous severance and although he'll find a new position soon, we're enjoying our time together now. He's already had a few interviews that went well. Part of me hopes he doesn't find a job until about a month after the twins are born - it would be great to share that time too!
