We had an emergency room visit this month. Sophia had a fever of 105.7, so we headed out to the hospital. After running a bunch of tests without any conclusive results (including a chest X-Ray to check for pneumonia), the doctors decided it was a virus and sent us home. Steve and I were both exhausted and didn't remember to remove the thermometer vaseline from the kids' room.
You may see where this story is going... Of course, during nap time a few days later (when Sophia was feeling better) Ethan and Sophia got into the vaseline. Hair, faces, bodies - all coated with a rather slimy, sticky, thick layer of the stuff. When we first discovered them, we thought it was funny. That mood changed, however, when we learned that vaseline does not come out of hair easily. Our children looked throwbacks to the 1950's with slicked-back hair. Yikes. I hopped online and found advice that cornstarch, dish soap, peanut butter, and regular shampoo mixed with baking soda are all recommended removers of vaseline from hair. So I put together all of the ingredients and treated the kids one by one. Sophia thought it was kinda fun. Ethan on the other hand, was less entertained by it all. So I've included a few pics of Sophia below... I wish we'd thought to take pictures of the "before" - it was pretty funny...
